Boeing also won the right to develop and produce the Air Force's next-generation fighter, the F-47, in March 2025, so this award makes it the sole builder of sixth-generation U.S. fighters, effectively shutting Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman out of this market for the foreseeable future. Following the announcement, Boeing shares rose about 2.3% in after-hours trading and traded 2% to 3% higher in premarket trading on September 30, while Northrop Grumman shares fell 3.5%.
