US Stock of the Day – Sep 30, 2026: Boeing <BA>
Wednesday, September 30, 2026
On September 30, 2026, the most talked-about US stock online is Boeing<BA>.
Background: On September 29, the Pentagon announced that it had selected Boeing to develop the Navy's sixth-generation carrier-based fighter, the F/A-XX, beating rival Northrop Grumman. The contract covers the full-scale development phase and is valued at more than $20 billion, and it also procures multiple test aircraft for ground, airworthiness, systems, and weapons integration testing. Boeing also won the right to develop and produce the Air Force's next-generation fighter, the F-47, in March 2025, so this award makes it the sole builder of sixth-generation U.S. fighters, effectively shutting Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman out of this market for the foreseeable future. Following the announcement, Boeing shares rose about 2.3% in after-hours trading and traded 2% to 3% higher in premarket trading on September 30, while Northrop Grumman shares fell 3.5%.
