Background: Reuters reported that Intel and South Korea's SK hynix are in talks over a partnership. Two arrangements are under consideration: SK hynix leasing part of Intel's Ohio manufacturing campus, and a joint venture involving Intel and major cloud companies to secure memory supply. SK hynix said it is reviewing various measures, including establishing additional production bases, to strengthen the competitiveness of its memory business. Intel's first Ohio fab was originally slated to start operating in 2025 but is now expected to come online in 2030 to 2031. The company had pledged at least $20 billion, with potential investment of up to $100 billion across as many as eight facilities. On the report, Intel rose 5% and SK hynix gained 3% in overnight trading.
