The Nikkei 225 rebounded for the first time in four sessions on September 16, closing up 438.90 yen (+0.68%) at 63,923.00. The TOPIX also rose, up 24.56 points to 4,061.72. Continued gains in crude oil prices lifted oil and mining-related stocks, while a rise in South Korea's KOSPI index spurred buy-backs in the afternoon session. By contribution, Advantest added 130.33 yen and Tokyo Electron 104.59 yen, followed by Fast Retailing, Recruit Holdings and Shin-Etsu Chemical. SoftBank Group cut 77.23 yen and Kioxia Holdings 22.76 yen. The prior day's US stock decline, concerns over slowing AI development, and rising long-term interest rates in Japan and the US capped further gains. On the TSE Prime market, 67.4% of issues rose and 29.0% fell. The dollar traded at 155.02 yen, down 0.09 yen from the previous day.
