Jiangxi Copper<600362>, China's largest copper producer, was the Chinese stock most talked about online on September 11, 2026.
Background: On September 10 it was reported that the White House had put its copper import tariff plan on hold, on concern that the measure could push up manufacturing costs and offset the benefit of supporting the domestic mining industry. LME copper plunged USD 534 to USD 14,234 a tonne that day and COMEX copper fell 4.7%, while the October COMEX-LME spread narrowed by about USD 200 to minus USD 20. In response, the company's Hong Kong-listed shares closed down 9.19% on September 11, with copper stocks among the day's biggest decliners; MMG fell 8.20% and CMOC 7.73%. In the A-share market, Jingyi Co. hit limit-down while Northern Copper, Western Mining, Yunnan Copper and Sinosteel Engineering all fell more than 5%. The Shanghai Composite ended down 1.18% at 3,888.11 on turnover of RMB 1.97 trillion, with more than 4,800 stocks declining.
