US Stock of the Day – Oct 9, 2026: AT&T <T>

Friday, October 9, 2026

On October 9, 2026, the most talked-about US stock online is AT&T<T>.
Background: On October 8, Elon Musk's SpaceX announced that it will acquire a nationwide portfolio of 800 MHz spectrum licenses (up to 14 MHz of paired spectrum) from Grain Management. The deal is seen as a foothold for its Starlink satellite service to move fully into the mobile phone business, and The Wall Street Journal reported the price at $8 billion in cash. It is subject to approval by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). In response, AT&T shares fell about 6% in after-hours trading on October 8 and were down 7% at $22.87 after the open on October 9. Verizon and T-Mobile also fell sharply, while tower companies such as American Tower rose 5% to 6%. The three major carriers had just formed a joint venture the previous week for services connecting satellites directly to devices, and Starlink was not part of it.
