Same-store sales rose 4.4% from a year earlier, a second straight monthly gain, with customer numbers up 3.3% and spending per customer up 1.1%. The company said its summer thanksgiving event, monthly themed sales and television commercials drove solid sales of dining furniture, living room furniture, home appliances and lighting, and bedding.
