China Stock of the Day – Aug 6, 2026
Thursday, August 6, 2026
On August 6, 2026, the Chinese stock most talked about online was MiniMax<MINIMAX-W>, listed in Hong Kong.
Background: The Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges announced that MiniMax-W, Luxshare Precision, and San'an Optoelectronics (Three-Circle Group) would be newly added to the Stock Connect eligible securities list effective August 6, giving mainland investors access to trade the stock. Following the announcement, MiniMax's share price surged from the open, rising as much as 22.77% to an intraday high of HKD 311.60, before closing up 17.10% from the previous day at HKD 297.20. The rally was further supported by the July 31 open-sourcing of the company's multimodal generative model "MiniMax H3," which several domestic AI chip makers, including Moore Threads, Muxi, and Hygon Information Technology, had announced compatibility with on August 3. Zhipu AI, also newly added to Stock Connect that day, rose as much as 10% intraday but closed up only 5.09%. The outsized moves in these two AI large-model stocks drew heavy online attention amid an otherwise soft session for Hong Kong equities overall.
